Brookfield Asset Management has agreed to acquire a minority interest in American Real Estate Partners, a real estate investment manager and developer whose investments include PowerHouse Data Centers. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, with financial terms undisclosed.

AREP said the partnership combines its vertically integrated development platform with Brookfield's global investment and infrastructure capabilities. PowerHouse has a reported development pipeline exceeding 8 gigawatts across several US markets.

PowerHouse operates or is developing projects in Virginia, Texas, North Carolina, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Nevada and Pennsylvania. AREP said the investment will support its continued expansion in data center and power-related infrastructure.

Brookfield has existing interests in several data center and telecommunications infrastructure companies and has also invested in energy assets that support large computing facilities. The transaction reflects continued institutional investment in developers positioned to serve AI-driven demand for new capacity.
